The School

• Brighton College is the UK’s leading coeducational school, achieving the best A-level results of any co-educational school in England whilst ensuring children enjoy all the fun activities a top school can offer.
• Brighton College was named England's Independent School of the Year 2011-2012 by The Sunday Times
• Sited in the heart of the campest area of 'London by the sea', the school succeeds in being fashionable, practical and innovative – the lack of Saturday morning school means that everyone can have a full weekend and the chance to be part of the town instead of just being educated within it.
• In 2010, pupils achieved over 94.5% A* to B grades at A-level, and 83% achieved A* or A grades at GCSE. Currently, 52 former pupils are studying at Oxford and Cambridge.
• The Good Schools Guide called the school a "Happy and forward-looking town school with a wide and healthy spread of pupils and parents", also stating: "A good bet to become an even more impressive school in the future."

Admission

• Year 9 is the main intake point for entry into Brighton College and Entry into Year 9 is either through the Common Entrance (CE) or Academic Scholarship examination in the June of the year of entry or, for pupils who do not attend a CE school, through the Brighton College entry assessments, which take place 18 months prior to entry.
• Admission to Sixth Form is on the basis of an interview with senior teachers, alongside assessments in Verbal Reasoning, English and Maths, and two subjects of the pupil's choice. Registration is normally one year prior to entry.

Boarding Houses

• The boarding community thrives at Brighton College. Ofsted praised the ‘outstanding’ provision for boarders, highlighting the pastoral care especially. A new £3.5 million building opened in the Woolton Quad in 2011 to enhance the social space and provision for the boarding community. Tatler magazine described theaccommodation as ‘some of the smartest, most homely we’ve seen’.
• The structure of the boarding houses varies slightly from that of the day houses, in reflection of their subtly different role within the college.
• All houses have a House Master/Mistress and the team of form tutors. They also have a duty teacher in each house, who at any given time can be called upon by pupils in need. The ethos of the boarding houses tends to be one of extended family,[8] giving the House Masters/Mistresses a less distant role to their counterparts in the day houses.
